Canada Successfully Concludes Free Trade Negotiations with Ukraine and Israel

Prime Minister Stephen Harper today announced that Canada and Ukraine have successfully concluded negotiations toward the Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement (CUFTA)


Yesterday, Prime Minister Stephen Harper also announced the conclusion of negotiations on an expanded and modernized Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement (CIFTA).”

CUFTA is Canada’s newest free trade agreement, one that extends our free trade footprint in Eastern EuropeBilateral trade between Canada and Ukraine is modest at the moment

CIFTA, by contrast, is one of Canada’s oldest. Canada and Israel have had a free trade agreement in place for nearly 20 years. Since it came into force, our two-way merchandise trade has more than tripled, reaching $1.6 billion last year.
