Clearpath Robotics: from startup to ramping up

Clearpath Robotics will soon mark its fifth anniversary with profit, the sale of its 1,000th robot and plans to significantly expand its workforce of highly skilled engineers.

Rendall was in the first graduating class from the University of Waterloo’s mechatronics program in 2008. That program produced the founders of several high-profile startups in Waterloo Region’s growing tech sector, including Thalmic Labs, Miovision and Aeryon Labs.

As the company gears up for rapid expansion, it plans to hire mostly engineers — vehicle engineers among others. “A lot of autonomous-systems engineers, perception engineers, very, very advanced robotics disciplines,” Rendall said.
