Does a local manufacturing renaissance loom?

It would be impossible to separate manufacturing from the history of Waterloo Region.

After significant losses, manufacturing in our region is rebounding, with employment growth of more than 5,000 jobs between 2012 and 2011.

Canada’s Technology Triangle Inc.‘s insight:

Then there is the Waterloo Region factor. A producer has every reason to locate in this region because they will find a productive, creative, and well-educated workforce. Already a high proportion of employees in our region work in manufacturing — 18.4 per cent compared to 11.8 per cent across Ontario — which means an experienced workforce to draw from. We also have educational institutions graduating top talent, from engineers to welders. All of this exists in a region known for its innovation.
