A quantum leap foward

The Institute for Quantum Computing at the University of Waterloo took a major step forward in the global race to build a quantum computer last week when scientists unveiled a new multi-million dollar device capable of building quantum components.

Canada’s Technology Triangle Inc.‘s insight:

He compared the current stage of quantum computing to the building of transistors during the 1950s — in other words, the technology is still in its infancy — but said eventually quantum technology could revolutionize our society much like the discovery of fire or the harnessing of steam did in the past.

From oil exploration to medical science, the implications of computers or sensors infinitely more powerful than the ones we can build today are almost impossible to imagine.
