Boyle debuted with Lend Me A Tenor at Dunfield Theatre in Cambridge Friday night. She is thrilled to be back in Waterloo Region, far from Broadway’s New Amsterdam Theatre where she performed for five years as Mrs. Brill in Mary Poppins.
And when Lend Me A Tenor wraps up Oct. 12 in Cambridge, she will head back to her New York apartment, perhaps to do a tribute show on Rosemary Clooney.
Boyle lived in Waterloo Region for a few years. She still has a lot of family in the region, including siblings, so it’s a bit of a homecoming for the 64-year-old.
Her performance in this Drayton Entertainment production came about after she met with the theatre company’s artistic director, Alex Mustakas, in New York.
