Over the years, many Canadian assembly plants have been at, or near, the top of the J.D. Power & Associates plant awards handed out as part of their annual initial quality survey of 83,000 new car purchasers or lessees.
And that tradition has continued for 2013.
J.D. Power hands out Plant Assembly Line Quality Awards in three global regions – North/South America, Asia Pacific and Europe and Africa. The company says its awards are for models made for the U.S. market and “are based solely on average levels of defects and malfunctions and exclude design-related problems.”
Honda Canada’s Alliston 2 Plant in Ontario tied with Toyota Motor Corp. of Canada’s Cambridge South Plant for the North/South America Bronze Award at 23 PP100.
Alliston builds the Honda Civic and CR-V and the Acura MDX and ZDX. Toyota’s Cambridge South plant produces the Lexus RX.
