Just over a month into his new assignment at the U.S Consulate General Toronto, Jim Dickmeyer took a tour of various industries based in Ontario’s innovative southwestern region. The new Consul General, along with staff from the Consulate in Toronto and the U.S. Embassy in Ottawa, traveled to the Kitchener-Waterloo region to experience firsthand Canada’s high-tech hub, home to world-renown tech companies, a top-tier research university and civic-minded public and business leaders.
The day-long visit was organized by Canada’s Technology Triangle, a Public Private Partnership that offers business development assistance. The aim was to see firsthand an example of the region’s rapid growth and entrepreneurial activity, and to explore synergies with U.S. goals of strengthening trade between Canada and the States.
