The Move…CTT’s Transition to 260 King Street West, Kitchener

Robin Martin

Ah, the trials and tribulations of moving. So, there are always the challenges associated with moving one’s house, moving an office is a whole other experience. Last August I began a journey with CTT that put me directly into the path of “the whole other experience”.

My experience with this move has provided me with insight into how it is best to look at the needs of the organization, desires of the stakeholders and overall best solutions for staff and everyone involved. Perhaps one of the key things I learned is that Waterloo Region has many hidden opportunities and unique location solutions. However, I look forward to a time when we are able to best consolidate our resources and truly become a one -stop-shop for people looking to relocate. We are getting there.

I now truly know that the business of commercial real estate is a very competitive one and that the right person at the right time is what it can often take to get the deal done.  You need to be prepared because things may not always run in a nice smooth line. Stuff comes up, and when it does, you need to have the best resources at hand to get issues resolved effectively and quickly. We need to be open-minded and listen to the experiences and advice of others who have walked this path ahead of us.

As they say every cloud has a silver lining and things happen for a reason.  So, one Request for Information (RFI), and two recommendations to the Board later, we at CTT found our silver lining – in the form of a renovated theatre in the centre of the Region, downtown Kitchener.  Our imaginations have been sparked by the limitless opportunities that this new space and the property owner (Ridgewood Holdings) have afforded us.  We look forward to your visit at our fantastic new site – pop in or give us a call and we’d be delighted to tour you through the place we now call home.
